About Red Branch Irish Wolfhounds
Our goal in breeding is not only to raise hounds that
meet the breed standard (and by doing so achieve their championships in
the show ring) but to prove themselves on the lure coursing field and in
various other endeavors. The sound and stable temperaments of our hounds
are proven by fact that all are certified Therapy dogs, bringing both laughter
and companionship to the elderly, infirm and to children. Towards that
goal our hounds are our daily companions, living in the house with us.
The socialization of our hounds begins at a very early age in preparation
for their future lives.
As with all young creatures they learn at an early age
"basic manners" and "house rules" - though as all youngsters do, they often
will try the patience of saints, trying to get by with whatever they can,
whenever they can. They seem to have an almost uncanny knack for finding
the person in the household who is "the softest touch." Occasionally we
have puppies available to approved homes.
